The Manor Part 1: Renovations + Behind the Scenes
It has been a labor of love to renovate the historic Greencrest Manor. However, with every choice we’ve given thoughtful consideration to the feeling we want our guests to experience when they visit and stay at our property. If you’ve been following our Instagram Stories, you’ve likely been watching our behind-the-scenes updates already. We love all of you for following along on this journey, as it truly has been a joy for us, despite the long hours that we (and our incredible team) have been putting in.
Out of respect for the history of the Manor, and all the previous owners, we feel it’s extremely important to properly document the renovations and hard work being put in to give all areas of the estate new life while still respecting it’s original integrity. We hope you enjoy these major transformations as much as we do!
It was important for us to honor the original plans and blueprints of the manor. Having these framed and displayed so beautifully brings incredible joy to our hearts. We feel inspired every day seeing this vision in real life.
It was important for us to create special spaces and vignettes that welcomed our guests and encouraged them to relax. To read a good book with a hot cup of coffee or tea. A place to daydream. We’re smitten with the way the sunshine hits our rooms both morning and afternoon - it just feels like you’re bathed in brightness and light. This space was once dark and drab. Now, it’s the perfect place to gather- we envision many a groom will toast with his best men. We can already hear the boisterous laughter!
Now, let’s talk about the guest rooms! Reworking the rooms and suites has been so much fun for us! Each room has been lovingly remodeled in a specific color palette or theme with understated elegance & simple luxury in mind. From the finest of linens, to the coziest accessories.
Each room has also been given a name. We have the Burt Suite (a/k/a Bridal Suite) and the VIP Suite, as well as Trumpet, Lilac, Geranium, Francesca, Fern and Sarah. Mr. and Mrs. Burt were the original owners of the property, while Trumpet, Lilac, Geranium and Fern have been named for flowers that can be found blooming on the property.
Meet our pastel-perfect VIP Suite! This room is truly Springtime embodied… and it was one of our most favorite to decorate. We were inspired by a sweet little settee when we bought the Manor, and took the design from there, thanks to some gorgeous Serena & Lily textiles. As for that green carpet, as much as we can appreciate what was once a very trendy choice, we’re swapping it out for wood floors in the next few weeks.
Our light & airy bridal suite is also known as Burt. This classic design is the perfect palette for wedding day prep. The natural light, neutral tones, and spacious surroundings are a true breath of fresh air.
The Trumpet suite is dark, moody, and bold. The only truly “masculine” design of the bunch, this room is inviting and also intense. We intentionally included several vintage touches and lots of warm wood throughout the room, to create a more home-like atmosphere.
The Geranium suite is every bit her namesake - with golden hues and soft textures bringing so much life and joy to the space! We made sure to incorporate lots of bold accents and subtle greenery touches as well.
The Francesca suite is oh so French. The soft blush and classic black + white color pairing is feminine and fresh. Our own little Parisian getaway.
The Sarah suite is like an old friend - greeting you at the door, and welcoming you in for a long chat. The little window reading nook is a book-lovers dream!
The Fern suite is as frilly and feminine as it comes! The classic pink toile pattern-on-pattern play is a refreshing take on “girly”, and gently echoes the European roots of the Manor.
And finally, the Lilac suite is pure modern comfort. This is one of our freshest rooms, with a feeling of coming home to Mom’s house! With a view of the back gardens and fountains - this bedroom is a tranquil respite.
We’re going to spotlight each floor and room in more detail over the coming weeks, and we hope you’ll tune in to see the behind the scenes + before and afters to come! We could not be more excited to share this journey with all of you. Thank you for following along!
Warmly,
Jenn and Team GC
